In just 6 hours, one of the largest pharmaceutical plant in Arabia underwent a swift upgrade to Argus’ Taurus system, ensuring enhanced fire safety. Located in the Quassim region of Saudi Arabia, some 320 km Northwest of Riyadh, the plant is run by one of the leading pharma manufacturing companies in the country. The building previously was covered by beam technology however, due to the stratification, this system was not providing the expected performance and proved difficult to maintain.
A swift upgrade
Housing fully automated pharmaceutical production lines, access to the warehouse was time critical. Since the lines run 24/7 a delay in the time of installation would result in massive production cost.
Ensuring state-of-the-art protection for the building was crucial, given the presence of hazardous materials and sensitive equipment within. With a capacity of 18,000 pallets containing various chemical raw materials – including liquids, powders, and others – the structure spans 88 metres in length, 25 metres in height, and 37 metres in width. given its vast dimensions and intricate layout, the system needed to effectively cover a wide-ranging environment.
Hence the decision to install Argus’ Taurus wireless system. The simplicity of installing a wireless system played a pivotal role in its selection over other technologies, such as Linear Heat Detectors, Aspirating Air Sampling System, Beam Detectors, Dual-Beam IR/UV Detectors and even image-processing solutions. They quickly managed to fit the warehouse with 273 devices installed on 3 layers, 9 translators and 2 loop panel after only 6 hours, over few days, within short timeframes that did not disrupt the production schedule. The remarkably swift installation turnaround was made possible by utilising device magnetic bases particularly suitable for connection to steel pallet racks.
Argus products were selected also for their flexibility over time, a critical factor in this project, given the dynamic nature of pharmaceutical plants, which often undergo expansions or reconfigurations as needed.
«Considering the size and time constraints of this project, it is truly exceptional how quick and seamless the installation was. It’s a testament to the innovative and brilliant technology behind the Taurus system». Comments Gamal Abdallah, CEO at EG-TEK Group, Argus System Integrator Partner in the Middle East.
Argus’ commitment to safety
The customer is an innovative company which requires progressive technology that Argus is well known to produce. Renowned for its exceptional performance, the wireless Taurus system successfully extended its powerful signals throughout the entire range of chemical materials, including liquids, powders, and other substances. Moreover, it effortlessly penetrated the steel structure of the racks, maintaining signal integrity over long distances.
Argus Security has been established for 20 years and today employs over 150 experts in the design, manufacture and supply of high-performance fire protection products for international OEMs, panel partners and fire system integrators.

Argus is an integral component of Orama, a group of market leading wireless businesses united by a strong commitment to keeping people and their environment safe using the power of wireless technology and digital systems, creating value and opportunities for their customer and society.
«Despite time not being on our side, the team worked extraordinarily well and completed the job in such a brief time window. I’m happy to report that the end user is extremely pleased with the installation as the warehouse not only avoided losing profits by shutting everything down, but also because the building is now fully covered and safe» concludes Gamal Abdallah.
